Sauna session: Jo David Meyer Lysne

This weekend we invite you to dance and sweat with Jo David Meyer Lysne on Friday. He will play from 5pm to 6pm and make sure your evening starts off with a blast and great tunes! On Sunday we take it down a notch and have our sauna calm and cozy for you to recover after dancing through the night.

In one of the most striking debuts of recent years, Jo David Meyer Lysne’s ‘Henger i Luften’ (literally, ‘Hang in the Air’), magically combines the conversational fluency of contemporary chamber music with the extended sound-making techniques and alertness to the moment associated with experimental improvisation. The evocative, mood-enhancing atmospherics and tension-quickening rhythms of film music add another level, as does the contrast between the sonic purity of the mainly acoustic instruments and their sinister shadowing through subtle electronic effects. If you can imagine Morton Feldman scoring a Coen Bros movie you’re maybe halfway there.

Welcome to Sauna Session in our largest sauna, Árdna. The bathing ritual has been an important part of the Nordic way of life for a long time. Our sauna has a pleasant temperature of 60°C. Outside, you can enjoy a 7000 litre aquavit barrel that is converted to a sauna of 80-90°C and two cold baths as well as a shower. Wardrobes are right outside Árdna. We have a fully licenced bar, and snacks can be bought in both Naustet and Árdna.

Sauna Session often includes a performance by authors, poets, musicians, DJs, slam poetry, performance artists or sound works. Check out our program on for more info.

Bring your own towel and padlock or rent one in the bar for 50,- each. Bathing suits are required in the sauna and we recommend you bring your own flip-flops since the floor can be hot.
