BÅL at SALT (Campfire)

BÅL (The Campfire) is about gathering around the flames – a feast shared in community. Since ancient times, people have come together by the fire. Around the fire, we have shared food, told stories, and taken part in an inclusive fellowship.

For us at SALT, the fire symbolizes a connection to the past, while also belonging to our own time. We provide the finest ingredients, for you to prepare yourself over the flames.

  • Booking Information (Fire Pit Reservations at SALT)

    Select the number of fire pit seats you’d like in the calendar, along with your preferred arrival time.

    Each fire pit seats up to 12 people. Groups of 2–5 people cannot reserve in advance but are welcome for drop-in. In that case, you may be seated with others if there’s no availability around your own fire.

    You must be at least 18 years old to book a fire pit at SALT. Your reservation is held for up to 15 minutes after the scheduled time.

    We do not offer pre-ordering of food or drinks – these are ordered on site. Please note that food service has separate opening hours. There is no obligation to purchase food.

    For companies wishing to receive an invoice for food and drinks: please send your invoicing details to kundeservice@salted.no at least 2 business days in advance (invoice fee: NOK 65).

    For larger groups, private areas, catering, or similar requests, please contact utleie@salted.no.

    If the number of seats you want doesn’t appear as available, it’s either fully booked or not enough spots remain.

    Reservations must be made before 10:00 AM on the same day. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before your reserved time and can be done via a link in your confirmation email.

THE MENU

The Cheese Box

The Cheese Box tells the story of coastal and mountain people through warm, Norwegian flavors. The campfire menu highlights the role of cheese as a historical link between inland and coast. Here, you’ll be served a Norwegian campfire raclette with locally sourced cheeses and ingredients that truly come into their own over open fire.

Contents of the Cheese Box:

  • Grilling cheese from Trofors: Similar to Halloumi, perfect for grilling over the fire!

  • Jærsk Havslette cheese: A soft cheese from Jæren with a taste of the sea.

  • Camembert from Gangstad Farm: A white mold cheese that melts beautifully over the fire – delicious with potatoes or flatbread.

  • Potatoes: Sweet and juicy, ideal with warm cheeses.

  • Skewers: For threading cheese and vegetables to grill over open flame.

Everything in the box is selected to be enjoyed warm, telling a flavorful story of Norwegian food traditions around the fire.

The Meat Box

The Meat Box pays tribute to Norway’s rich tradition of smoked sausages – both as flavor and as a method of preservation. Here you’ll taste specialties from across the country, made from the animals that have shaped Norwegian food culture for generations.

Contents of the Meat Box:

  • Reindeer sausage from Røros: Hot-smoked, with a mild, slightly sweet game flavor. Ready for the grill.

  • Game sausage from Albert Idsøe in Stavanger: A perfect combination of moose and pork, delicious with pickled onion and mustard.

  • Lamb sausage: Made from Norwegian lamb grazing between fjords and mountains, with a rich and aromatic taste.

Accompaniments:

  • Coarse mustard, ketchup, pickled onion, and cowboy candy (sweet pickled chili).

Everything can be grilled just the way you like it – lightly warmed or charred over coals – and enjoyed with or without flatbread (lompe).

The Vegetable Box

The Vegetable Box celebrates the season of fresh potatoes and early harvests – when everything is extra sweet, crisp, and full of flavor. The best vegetables of the season become even better with a touch of heat and smoke from the grill.

Contents of the Vegetable Box (varies by season):

  • Potatoes, cabbage, radishes, and corn: Sweet and juicy ingredients that taste fantastic when grilled.

The Dessert Box

The Dessert Box offers s’mores – the Norwegian way. A warm, gooey finale where sweet meets tart and crunchy, perfect over the grill.

Contents of the Dessert Box:

  • Marshmallows: Grill until golden and soft.

  • Oat biscuits: Crispy cookies that add the perfect crunch.

  • Brown cheese (brunost): A Norwegian twist that brings both sweetness and a hint of tang.

  • ‘Troll cream’: Sour cream mixed with lingonberries.

Spread it on the biscuit, press it all together – and enjoy. A guaranteed grill favorite.
